Playa de las Mil Palmeras/RioMar

Map Mil Palmeras AlicantePlaya de las Mil Palmeras (beach of a thousand palms), today better known as Mil Palmeras, is an area located on the Mediterranean coast, about 13 km south of Torrevieja, 2 km north of Pilar de la Horadada (map). The area’s central location has made Mil Palmeras a popular resort in both summer and winter.
Within the area there are shops, bars and restaurants and on Tuesdays there is a market offering fresh vegetables/fruits, clothes, shoes etc. During July/August there is also an evening market along the promenade.

Beaches and Golf

Mil Palmeras is well known for its fine sandy beaches, which in recent years have been awarded the EU Blue Flag for clean and safe beaches. During the high season (July/August) the Red Cross has lifeguards on the beach.

Mil Palmeras is about 45 minutes from Alicante airport and San Javier airport is about 20 minutes away. There are bus connections with Alicante, Torrevieja and Cartagena. There are also various cycle paths around the area. The exit and entrance to the highway is about 1 km from the entrance to Mil Palmeras.

About 10 minutes by car you can reach the well-known golf courses Las Ramblas, Las Colinas, Championship course Villamartin and Campoamor. Another dozen courses are within an hour’s drive, such as La Manga with its 3 courses, La Serena, La Roda, etc.

Excursions & shopping

It is also close to the Mar Menor lake with its health baths in natural salt pools.

If you want a “shop till you drop” day, Zenia Boulevard is about 10 minutes from Mil Palmeras. It has access to 150 shops 7 days a week. The center has a total area of 160,000 m².
